Welcome to the Future: 065: Events, gigs and new release round-up 30-November 2018

Another Friday, another round-up. As always this is a look at upcoming releases, relevant music news and upcoming events and gigs worth spending some of your time at. It is by no means an exhaustive list, and I’m always on the lookout for more to include.

amodelofcontrol.com began unveiling Countdown: 2018 this week – where I look at the best of the year across successive Tuesdays into December. I’ll be starting with the best compilations and re-issues, which was posted 27-Nov, followed by the best tracks, best albums and finally the best gigs of the year.

transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has resumed the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes here. The latest episode was released recently (transmission: 012), and transmission: 013 will be out soon. I’m currently having some issues with the podcast so please bear with me while I rebuild and get it live again.

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the new Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”).

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

New and Upcoming Releases this week

We’re not far off at the end of the 2018 release schedule now, with the releases today. The long awaited album from Radioaktivists is out today (Radioakt One), and Matt Hart releases the third part of his Chaos Rising releases in the form of Chaos Rising 3. Then there is also the latest instalment of the Out of Line series in the form of Awake The Machines Vol. 8.

Another sign that we’re now looking at music for 2019 – a whole host of new tracks were released this week.

The Young Gods led the charge with Figure Sans Nom, then there is also Gesaffelstein’s Reset, the first brand-new Test Dept. material in twenty years in the form of the pummelling Landlord, and then it seems that Grimes has gone industrial rock on We Appreciate Power. Finally, too, the first track from the forthcoming Acretongue album Nocturne can now be heard too.

Also, news broke overnight that Faith No More appear to be back in the studio.

Also also, the latest Six By Seven re-issue project: The Things We Make on blue vinyl and, more importantly, a potential gig in Nottingham? SIGN.ME.UP.

Other Music News

The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing are doing a 10th Anniversary tour in the Spring, while worth reading are this interview with Al Jourgensen, and also this about purportedly Africa’s first all-Black Black Metal band.

Two other articles worth reading: the kindness and thoughtfulness of Nick Cave’s Red Hand Files, and a musing on whether Britpop might have had a hand in Brexit
