Welcome to the Future: 033: Events, gigs and new release round-up 16-March 2018

Another Friday, another round-up. As always this is a look at upcoming releases, relevant music news and upcoming events and gigs worth spending some of your time at. It is by no means an exhaustive list, and I’m always on the lookout for more to include.

transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has resumed the run through of the a-z of industrial, with transmission: 003, transmission: 004 and transmission: 005 joining 001 and 002 online recently, and we’ll be continuing with e on transmission: 006 very soon. You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

New and Upcoming Releases this week

Not quite as many new releases this week.

Matt Hart released Chaos Rising 2, while in re-issues, Paradise Lost’s Host is out today (see also Talk Show Host: 045), and Tenek have re-issued Stateless online.

In upcoming music, Failure have launched a PledgeMusic for LP5, and Collide have done similarly for remix album Mind and Matter. There is also potentially new My Bloody Valentine on the way, but I’ll be taking that with a pinch of salt!

Finally, Liz Phair is re-releasing her classic album Exile in Guyville, in a seven disc set that includes the entirety of the legendary Girly-Sound tapes.

Other Things

This week Infest added Def Neon, Grave Diggers Union and Massenhysterie to the line-up.

Elsewhere, on tour, Sulpher have announced tour dates at last (although the only London date so far is at Camden Rocks), and 3TEETH return to the UK in May.

The long-awaited WaxTrax! documentary, Industrial Accident, is showing at the East End Film Festival in London on 26-April…the day I go to Whitby. FFS. Talking of film, with just about anything about Death Grips, little surprises me, but this headline had me reading it twice: “Death Grips Working on New Music With Shrek Director“. Huh.

Two other things worth a read today – a very good article on the influence of EBM, and some more info behind the end of the NME’s print edition, which isn’t a pretty read.
