It’s Friday, therefore time for the usual amodelofcontrol.com round-up of new music coming your way this week and soon, as well as a look at the events and gigs in the future, and finally nods to any other notable news that affects artists and music that I cover here.
In the past, I’ve generally not posted a “tracks of the month” post at the beginning of the year, instead waiting until early February. This year is different, partly because so many great new songs have already been released from releases due in 2019, but also because my end-of-year (Countdown) series covers December to November.
Onto week two of Countdown: 2018 on amodelofcontrol.com, and this week I’m looking at the best tracks of the year. These might be the singles, they might be album tracks, they might be one-offs. But all of them are songs I love in one way or another, and they aren’t all necessarily songs that fall […]
Another Friday, another round-up. As always this is a look at upcoming releases, relevant music news and upcoming events and gigs worth spending some of your time at. It is by no means an exhaustive list, and I’m always on the lookout for more to include.
One last month of 2018 where I’m wrapping up new music, and it’s been an interesting set of songs that I’ve been sifting through this month. Not everything was able to be included, to be honest, as for once I decided to stick with a maximum of ten songs. Also, look out for a second […]
The eleventh part of Transmission, the a-z of industrial. This continues our look at industrial music, and is this week continuing all about bands beginning with “h”.
2015 in gigs: 70 days, 165 live sets, 154 unique bands, forty venues, seven cities, four festivals (and each of those festivals in a different town/city), three countries, two continents.
This week, on part three, I turn my attention to the best albums of the year. I seem to say it every year, but really – 2015 has been an extraordinary year for alternative music, you’ve just got to have been looking in the right places to find some of it. Not all of it […]
As we hurtle headlong through the summer – it’s my birthday next weekend, and Infest just three short weeks after that – it is time already for another roundup of the tracks of the month, and I have to admit I’m already starting to consider what might be making the end of year lists – […]
This week marks ten years since I registered amodelofcontrol.com, and got to work promoting my music writing (the first permanent home I’d given it), and then over the coming months also promoting my then nascent DJing (tcf began in March 2004). I first began writing about music back at University in 1996, and my writing […]
So, a return to my traditional Tuesday Tens after the end of year break for rounding up 2011. My girlfriend set me a challenge for two Tuesday Tens last week, and it seemed like an interesting idea. So here is the first part of it, and it will likely be the shortest Spotify Playlist I […]
So, last week I covered “Bad Sex”. This week, it is the better side. The songs that I actually see as being sexy.
So, before I rush headlong into my top ten tracks of 2009 (albums next week, gigs the week after), a quick mention of a few acts that have wowed me, bored me, surprised me or otherwise this year. Some of these may be in the other lists, others won’t be.
Yet another gig which was running horrendously late from the start. We didn’t see the whole set of any of the support acts – our need for food in particular saw to that. But then, some of the supports tried our patience somewhat, too.
And now individual tracks..
Time for my usual monthly roundup.
