This year’s statistics – I saw 51 days-worth of gigs, and 156 live sets. It featured 140 different bands, and I saw sixteen twice – and all that lot were in two countries (England and Belgium) and four different cities (London, Bradford, Leeds and Sint-Niklaas).

As we creep out of July and into August, it is usual that my thoughts begin to turn to two things – my birthday, and Infest. And as it happens this year, it is one of two important milestones. I turn 40, and then two weeks or so later, Infest turns 20.
Another Friday, another round-up. As always this is a look at upcoming releases, relevant music news and upcoming events and gigs worth spending some of your time at. It is by no means an exhaustive list, and I’m always on the lookout for more to include.
The third part of Transmission, the a-z of industrial. Unlike “b”, where I just about had enough for one episode, there are so many bands beginning with “c” that this will spread across two episodes – and I still had to miss out a few.
Some statistics: over 2017, I saw 114 live sets, across 45 days-worth of events (I count festivals by the day, so Infest covers three days-worth of events). Remarkably, by the way, my wife Daisy saw 18 days-worth of the 45 with me (perhaps a larger number than usual!).
