Welcome to the amodelofcontrol.com review of 2019, which begins this week. Over this and the next three Tuesdays, I’ll be rounding up the best music of the year in various categories. In coming weeks there will be the best tracks, the best albums, and the best gigs.
It’s time for what is likely to be the last Tuesday Ten of 2019 – although I might do one more just before Christmas, as I have A Plan – before I get started on wrapping up 2019 next week. As usual /Countdown/2019 will be posted over four Tuesdays, covering compilations/reissues, the best tracks, the […]
After last week – Welcome to the Future: 066, where I wrapped up the new music coming your way in 2019, this week it is back to “normal” with the wrap-up of new music this week, and then also the usual round-up
After last week, where I finally looked at Opening Songs on albums, this week, I’m heading to the other end of the album, to the Closing Song. But not secret tracks, or outros, songs that actually close albums properly, and interestingly, there are a number of more recent songs featured this week.
This past week has been one where I’ve (once again) not written quite as much as I’d have liked. I did write about the amazing Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds show from last weekend (see the link at the end), and there are a few new interviews and reviews now in the works, though.

In addition, there have been 42 best-of-year posts (actually going back as far as 2004), and run-downs of the best of the 80s, 90s, and 2000s (which was across a total […]
Already, we’re onto the third month of this run-down of 1996, and the avalanche of great new music that appeared that year.
The end: the top twenty at last.
Over halfway, and we’re into the Top 100.
I’m sure I’ve at least mentioned these in passing before, but I can’t find it (the perils of using titles to posts that don’t actually tell me all that much when searching for things!), so it’s perhaps overdue that I make this into a Tuesday Ten, especially with such an interesting response on Facebook and […]
Another month – so it's time again for my tracks of the month.
My prelidiction for music lists at the moment may be coming across all a bit High Fidelity, but it is in the main me rummaging through the boxes of musical history in my mind – that and I am finding it quite a lot of fun hunting through the archives of YouTube. In addition, of […]
I'm not sure what got me thinking about this, it must have been listening to something when I got home last night. But in a quiet hour I started on a list of albums that inspired me, got me interested in something new, triggered something…hopefully you know what I mean. So here it is. I'd […]
