/Welcome to the Future/093/Events, gigs and new release round-up/02-Aug 2019

It’s Friday, therefore time for the usual amodelofcontrol.com round-up of new music coming your way this week and soon, as well as a look at the events and gigs in the future, and finally nods to any other notable news that affects artists and music that I cover here.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned this week, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/014, getting through the letter J and moving onto K.

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/This Week/New Releases

Out this week: Post-metal titans Russian Circles release Blood Year, which is another astonishing piece of work from this always brilliant band. The final track Quartering is one of the most punishing pieces they’ve done yet, too. In shorter, EP/single releases, Little Boots is back with Jump EP, Street Sects release the latest in their Gentrification series: Gentrification III: Death and Displacement EP, and Matt Hart has released new single Superficial.

An artist I’ve still not managed to see live (although I’ve seen their previous group The Knife a few times) is Fever Ray, and Live at the Troxy is out today. A notable reissue out today is of the extraordinary collaboration between Neurosis & Jarboe.

/This Week/Upcoming Releases

Maybe many of us had given up on this – and my wife maintains she will only believe it’s coming when she actually hears it at the end of the month – but Tool’s new album is Fear Inoculum, and as expected is out 30-August. Let’s just hope it’s actually good, eh? In the meantime you can, at last, listen to their previous work on streaming platforms.

Other announcements this week include more unexpected ones – the return of Telefon Tel Aviv, for one, and a second post-reunion album from Refused, in the form of War Songs on 18-Oct, with new song Blood Red out today (and it’s a solid Refused track, too). Also, there are re-issues of the much-underrated Geneva albums coming, too.
