Tuesday Ten: 238: Dead on “TV”

This week, time for a Tuesday Ten I’ve been thinking about and working on, gradually, for a few months. I was set a challenge, you see: to come up with a Tuesday Ten where deaths occur “on camera” (i.e. are described or happen in the songs). However, I could not rely on some of the usual suspects – particularly Cave, Cash and Dylan. Some interesting suggestions were originally made, I thought of a few more, and then opened it up to my readers for some other ideas, and the result is the ten below. Tuesday Ten: 183: An Infest Retrospective

As Infest 2013 looms this weekend – and with the announcement that there won’t be an Infest in 2014, either – I’ve decided that it is time to look back at the twelve Infests I’ve attended previously (I’ve been to every one since 2000, and of course there wasn’t one in 2009). 2012 in review: Best Tracks

Yet again, this list was a tough one. 2012 actually ended up being an impressive year for new music, as far as I was concerned, it just didn’t all come from the corners that I was expecting. Read more “2012 in review: Best Tracks”

Tuesday Ten: 153: Tracks of the Month (March 2012)

I guess last week’s repackaging Tuesday Ten was kinda apt, seeing as this past week has marked five years of my Tuesday Ten series. That is five years of me carping on about music in various forms. And seeing as I’m not out of ideas yet for the series, they will keep on coming. So, on with this week. Read more “Tuesday Ten: 153: Tracks of the Month (March 2012)”

2010 in review: Best Tracks

There has been so much good music this year – as well as a few stinkers, frankly, but let’s not dwell on those, at least for now – that for the first time ever in a year roundup I’ve stretched this one out to cover 25 songs, and I’ve still had to miss a couple of things out. Tuesday Ten: 027: Crossing Boundaries

For this week's Tuesday Ten, I'm looking at the idea of bands who have successfully brought together disparate genres into their sound. There are likely many more bands that have done this other than the ones I have come up with (it was a difficult list to create, frankly), and other suggestions are welcome.

Tuesday Ten: 026: Top Played Artists of 2007

A slightly different Tuesday Ten this week – and it will be the last 2007 retrospective. So what is this one? Well, it needs some explanation. Read more “Tuesday Ten: 026: Top Played Artists of 2007”

Tuesday Ten: 015: The Ghosts Of Infest Past

We are finally in the week preceding Infest, so it is perhaps only right for an Infest-based Tuesday Ten. Not just ten artists, though – this is something of a ramble of the good and the bad from my seven Infests so far – I haven’t mentioned all of the bands over that time, but I’ve made a good attempt at mentioning as many as possible. Other recollections or corrections, etc etc, would be cool… Read more “Tuesday Ten: 015: The Ghosts Of Infest Past”

Tuesday Ten: 014: The DJ Emergency Kit

This week's TT is inspired by a number of things, but triggered mainly in the most recent-sense by Carl's question the other day, and what I have noticed as a DJ in the EBM/industrial scene. So what is the list about? Dancefloor fillers. Not just any old dancefloor fillers, but the ones that are truly guaranteed to stuff the dancefloor each and every time they are played – a kind of 'DJ Emergency Kit', if you will. So let's start with the really bloody obvious. Read more “Tuesday Ten: 014: The DJ Emergency Kit”
