Here at amodelofcontrol.com I’ve come to appreciate over the years that interviewing bands – I prefer e-mail than to be transcribing Skype interviews, partly as trying to schedule them is very difficult indeed too! – can often tell me (and of course my readers) so much more than just a review. After all, I’m only interpreting what I hear in reviews. 2013 in Review: Compilations and reissues

I have something of a love-hate relationship with the whole idea of reissues and compilations. Some are truly worthwhile – reminding listeners of bands that they may have otherwise missed, or introducing them to something wholly new. Others, however, reek of shameless cash-in. I’m starting this year’s musical roundup a little differently to normal. During 2011, there has been a glut of compilations in the “Industrial” sphere.
