This Friday, what was potentially unthinkable (and very unlikely indeed) a year ago will happen – Donald Trump gets inaugurated as 45th President of the United States of America. Read more “Tuesday Ten: 277: Here Comes The Flood (Environmental Songs)”
For a country with a population of 330,000 – and a total area of 102,000km2 (in comparison, England has a total area of 130,000km2 and a population of 54 million) – Iceland has a remarkable musical heritage. Obviously it goes back a long way, Iceland having a well-recorded history going back into the first millenium BC, and some of that folk music developed over a long period is covered at the exceptional Skógar Museum in the south of the island (founded by Þórður Tómasson, now well into his nineties and I believe still going strong).

After last week saw the end of a lull in my Tuesday Ten postings, I’m hoping this month to actually do one each week. This week’s was inspired by the mention on Popjustice (complete with sample) of Röyksopp‘s forthcoming single The Girl and The Robot, which appears to be something of a rather brilliant pop song, and then there was the timely, but too late for me, showing of I’m a Cyborg, but That’s OK last night, a film I still haven’t seen. I've probably done this before, but a long while back, and I'm pretty sure not as part of the TT. So, here are ten (more) cover versions worthy of attention of some sort. When done well, I love the idea of the cover version. They sometimes help to open your eyes to a song you may not have paid attention to before, or not even liked at all. They may also show that the artist attempting the cover has more depth, or even range, than before. Read more “Tuesday Ten: 010: Cover Versions”
