Welcome to the Future: 019: Music news round-up 10-November 2017

I’m now in full-on “shit, what have I missed” mode on amodelofcontrol.com. This is as I’m frantically digging through everything I’ve written about this year, everything I’ve listened to, making sure that nothing really great is missing from the end of year round-up. It has happened before, where I’ve questioned later “how on earth did I not include this?”.

That said, there is still new music being released, and still new things you should hear, which is what this weekly post is all about.

There is still other stuff to come this month on amodelofcontrol.com too, with at two more Tuesday Tens to close off this year’s run, and I have some talking to do in the form of transmission, which will appear at some point in the next two weeks.

Oh, and with my DJ:traumahound hat on, I’ll be DJing at the last JUDDER (details in the events listing below) on 01-Dec along with a host of others.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

New Releases this week

Releases are slowing down a bit now, at least in our scene. That said, I managed to miss mentioning a new In Strict Confidence EP Herz & Frozen Kisses, which like most ISC “EP” releases is long enough to be an album in its own right.

Seeming follow up their exceptional (no, really) album SOL with a new EP Talk About Bones, and interestingly it contains a Cohen cover (Avalanche) that I’m looking forward to hearing. Out Out, who returned last year, also have a new EP out.

Then – frankly from a band I’ve long since drifted away from – Faderhead have a new release Night Physics out today. I find it most interesting that this is available on the various streaming sites, too (something that has not been the case for Faderhead for a long time).

Upcoming Releases

I’ve been quite a fan of Azar Swan’s releases and their latest album is Savage Exile, out on 01-Dec on Aufnahme + wiedergabe, interestingly. You can hear a song from it on NPR.

Another fascinating act returning are Young Fathers, whose new song Lord was released last week.

Other things

For those of us that have been getting rather tired of seeing shows “sell out” and then masses of tickets magically appearing on secondary-sale sites almost immediately, it has been revealed that StubHub and ViaGoGo have both been raided in touting investigations, while another prominent tout has been revealed to be using questionable methods in the Paradise Papers revelations this week.

Might we see some action, finally? I’m not going to hold my breath.
