Welcome to the Future: 009 Music news round-up 25-August 2017

By necessity a shorter post this week, as I’m writing this from the train journey north to Infest in Bradford. Needless to say amodelofcontrol.com will be reporting from the festival with a full review and photos after the weekend, but there may also be other coverage as we go on, on Facebook, Twitter (@amodelofcontrol) and Instagram (@amodelofcontrol).

In addition there was the excellent Front Line Assembly show in London last night, and there will also be coverage from that in the coming days (but also likely not until after Infest).

Other upcoming content will include a couple of interviews, and if you’ve not already seen my Facebook post about being a “dedicated fan” (and are one), get in touch, as I’d love to talk to you.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

New Releases this week

Quite the set of new releases this week, led by the extraordinary sonic artistry of Comaduster’s Solace (if you haven’t picked this up yet, I can’t recommend it highly enough).

Elsewhere Queens of the Stone Age return with the funked up Villains, Nadine Shah asks awkward questions on Holiday Destination, one of the greatest live acts on earth – Gogol Bordello, of course – return with Seekers and Finders, and post-metal band Sannhet’s new album So Numb is also out.

Other releases coming soon

Reborn Italian EBM band Pankow have a new album soon (Never Trust a White Man), and the first single is Blockupy <welcome to hell> – and it’s not quite what it first appears when you press play.

EMA is back with her third album Exile in the Outer Ring next week, and you can listen to the whole thing here.

Other things

Sad this week was the death of Felix Flaucher, a member of 18 Summers and who had also worked with Silke Bischoff.

One festival about to happen, and another has been confirmed. electriXmas in Malmö, Sweden (09-December) is headlined by Apoptygma Berzerk, alongside Architect, Me The Tiger, Electronic Frequency and….Seeming, the latter in their first European show. Now, hopefully there might be a few more around the same time!

Post-rock craziness ahoy with And So I Watch You From Afar back in October with The Endless Shimmering, and they are touring later in the year with Gallops.

Other gigs of note recently announced, all at the Dome in Tufnell Park:
American Head Charge – 17 Sep, Belphegor – 08-Oct, Desperate Journalist – 19-Oct, and Agoraphobic Nosebleed (!) and Leng T’che – 03-Nov.
